'Where's the Party' Five-Colour Screenprint

£250.00

These five-colour handcrafted editions are screen printed on heavy grain A2-sized paper with original artist details.

First, the paper is primed with a blast of acrid red spray paint to create a neon haze for the droid to fall into sharp contrast with. The iconic smiley face is then picked out in another flash of yellow, and the remaining screens build up the full-colour profile of ‘Where’s the Party?’ in blinding vibrancy.

This artwork has been handcrafted by the artists in London. From building the printing press to finishing every piece with original details showing the artist’s hand, each piece is part of a limited collectable edition and unique in its own right. Each piece is signed and numbered by the artists.

Collection Details

This Limited-Edition Print collection and its relation to the original sculpture consider the visual ephemera of rave, art, and free party scenes. Flyers, posters, and wristbands often remain the only documentation of the music and togetherness that occurred fleetingly, and the shapes and art used on these have, over time, become icons and symbols.

As the sculpture physically moved from clubs to artist studios, creative communal living spaces to festivals for different installations, it has become a harbinger of a spirit of dance music, community, and creativity. Its placemaking and presence signify the establishment of a space with the sounds and people it brings with each new installation.

Through the intricate process of screenprinting, the metal form undergoes a transformation, taking on an iconographic nature. This ritualistic metamorphosis from steel to paper imbues the prints with a tangible essence of a sonic and spiritual experience. The form and colours of the metal droid, now reproduced, become recognizable to those seeking similar music and connection frequencies.

Project Details

Sidney Seymour and Alex Wreckage, sculptors, renegades, and general artistic maniacs, first created ‘Where’s The Party’ from a 66 Austin FX4 Black Cab and a Royal Enfield Motorcycle frame in 2023.

This twisted, amorphous metal drone, a homage to the pursuit of pleasure, tunes, and freedom, was first shown at the London Acid City exhibition at FOLD London. The show celebrated music history, rave culture, and the STAY UP FOREVER record label.

From there, it crashed the party at Glastonbury Festival 2023 & 2024, installed at Glastonbury on Sea. Looming over the festival, revelling in the smoke, shenanigans, and sonic solidarity of the community and the incredible artists that create the Pier each year. Glastonbury on Sea rose from the fumes of artists Joe Rush and Alex Wreckage’s creative alchemy. The chaos is controlled by the talented madman Liam Hayhow, and it is fueled by artists from across the globe who convene annually to make the experience possible.
