Sidney Seymour is a sculptor, primarily working in metal. By building symbolic relics of our consumer society, Seymour situates them in the very place the material was sourced from, filling the vacuum left by urban regeneration, gentrification, and mass commercialism. Through immersive exhibitions and site-specific installations, Seymour’s work implores the viewer to witness and be part of an art experience far beyond the confines of a traditional gallery. Seymour’s work is often inspired by the inextricable link between unconventional fringe art and music and party culture that has underpinned some of the most formative cultural movements in the UK.
